The Long Point Trail is a 1.6-mile route each way from Newton Road outside Fayetteville to a rock spine that juts into the New River Gorge with a head-on view of the bridge. It is the most direct hike to a bridge overlook on the south rim and is mostly flat with a short rocky descent at the end. It is also open to mountain bikes as far as the final spur.
