Browsing BookWV

You can search BookWV, view property listings, save properties, and follow links to an owner’s or property manager’s booking website without creating an account or providing an email address.

There is no sign-up wall or email requirement to browse the site.

Visitor cookie

When you visit BookWV, we may place a cookie called bookwv_vid in your browser. It contains a randomly generated identifier. It is not based on your name, email address, or other information you provide to us.

We use this identifier to:

• Remember listings you have saved so your saved list remains available when you return.
• Help us count listing views without treating repeated page loads from the same browser as separate visitors.

The cookie lasts for up to one year unless you delete it sooner through your browser settings.

If you clear the cookie, a saved list associated only with that browser may no longer be available unless you previously shared or emailed the list.

Email addresses

We ask for your email address only when you choose to use a feature that requires it.

Emailing a saved list

If you choose to email yourself a saved list, we use your email address to send the list and associate it with that request. We do not automatically add you to a marketing mailing list or send unrelated follow-up emails.

Sending an inquiry to a property owner

If you send an inquiry through BookWV, your message is forwarded to the applicable owner or property manager. Your email address may be included as the reply-to address so they can respond to you directly.

We retain a copy of the inquiry so it can be referenced if necessary.

Contacting BookWV

If you contact us through our contact form, we use the information you provide to respond to your request and manage that correspondence.

Owner and property manager accounts

If you create an account or list a property on BookWV, we collect information needed to operate your account and listings, including:

• Your name and email address.
• A securely hashed version of your password. BookWV does not store your password in readable form.
• Property and listing information you provide.
• Photographs and other content you upload.
• Your subscription plan, subscription status, and renewal information.
• Aggregate performance information related to your listings.

Listing statistics may include information such as:

• Listing views.
• Clicks to your external booking website.
• Saves.
• BookWV pages or features that referred visitors to the listing.

These statistics are intended to show aggregate activity. BookWV does not provide owners with the identity of individual travelers who simply browse or view their listings.

Payments

BookWV uses Stripe to process subscription payments.

Payment card information is submitted directly to Stripe and is not stored on BookWV servers.

BookWV may retain information necessary to administer your subscription, including:

• Stripe customer and subscription identifiers.
• Your subscription plan.
• Amount paid.
• Subscription status.
• Renewal date.

Stripe processes payment information according to its own privacy policy and terms.

Owners and property managers can manage applicable account and subscription information through their BookWV dashboard.

What BookWV does not do

BookWV does not:

• Sell or rent personal information.
• Use third-party advertising trackers or social-media advertising pixels.
• Build advertising profiles about travelers.
• Track travelers across unrelated websites for advertising purposes.
• Send travelers marketing emails simply because they browsed BookWV or used a saved-list feature.

We may use service providers necessary to operate BookWV, such as website hosting, security, email delivery, and payment processing providers. Those providers receive information only as needed to perform their services.

Server logs, security, and abuse prevention

Like most websites, BookWV and its hosting providers may temporarily record standard technical information when a page is requested. This can include information such as:

• IP address.
• Browser or device information.
• Requested page.
• Date and time of the request.

We may use this information for website security, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, and rate limiting.

For example, IP addresses may be used to prevent one connection from repeatedly submitting forms or flooding an owner’s inbox.

BookWV also uses Cloudflare Turnstile on certain forms to help distinguish legitimate users from automated bots. Turnstile is used for security and abuse prevention rather than advertising.

How long we keep information

Our general retention periods are:

• Visitor cookie: Up to one year, unless you delete it earlier.
• Saved lists: Generally retained while associated with an active browser or account and may be deleted after two years of inactivity.
• Property inquiries: Up to two years.
• Contact messages: Generally reviewed and cleared periodically, including through annual mailbox cleanup.
• Owner account and listing information: Retained while the account is active and generally for up to 90 days after a listing or account expires so it can be restored if renewed.
• Listing statistics: Detailed daily records may be retained for up to two years and may then be retained in aggregated form.
• Rate-limit and session information: Generally retained from several hours to several weeks, depending on its purpose.
• Payment and transaction records: Retained as necessary for accounting, tax, legal, and recordkeeping requirements.

We may retain information longer when required by law, necessary to resolve a dispute, protect BookWV or its users, or enforce our agreements.

Your choices

You may contact us to request that we:

• Tell you what personal information we maintain about you.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete information when applicable.

Owners and property managers may also be able to manage or delete account and listing information through their BookWV dashboard.

Travelers can delete the BookWV visitor cookie through their browser settings. You may also contact us regarding deletion of a saved list, inquiry, or other information associated with you.

Deleting an account does not erase records that BookWV is legally or reasonably required to retain, such as completed payment, accounting, and tax records.

Children

BookWV is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as BookWV changes.

When we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects owners or property managers with active accounts, we may also notify them by email.
