Where to stay for birding near Williams River
The Williams River drains the north side of the Cranberry Wilderness in Pocahontas and Webster counties and flows west to the Gauley River near Donaldson. It is one of the most heavily stocked trout streams in West Virginia, with a catch-and-release section and Forest Service campgrounds along Forest Road 86. The Highland Scenic Highway crosses it at the Williams River overlook.
