Snowshoe Mountain Resort is on Cheat Mountain in northern Pocahontas County at about 4,848 feet, the largest ski resort in the mid-Atlantic. It has roughly 250 skiable acres, about 60 trails and a 1,500-foot vertical drop split between the Snowshoe Basin, Silver Creek and the north-facing Western Territory. The resort community at the summit holds most of the lodging and restaurants, and in summer the mountain runs a lift-served downhill bike park. Cass and Green Bank are well under an hour southeast.
