Cathedral State Park protects 133 acres of old-growth eastern hemlock at Aurora in Preston County, on US 50. It is the largest stand of virgin timber left in West Virginia, with some hemlocks more than 90 feet tall. The park is day-use only with about two miles of easy trails.
