Where to stay near North Fork Mountain
North Fork Mountain is a long quartzite ridge running about 24 miles between Petersburg and Judy Gap in Pendleton and Grant counties. The North Fork Mountain Trail follows the crest past Chimney Top and a series of west-facing cliff overlooks above Germany Valley, and it is one of the driest ridges in the state with no reliable water. It is a well known backpacking and mountain biking route.

A 24 mile ridgetop trail between Smoke Hole and US 33, running along a dry rain-shadow spine with repeated cliff views. Water sources are effectively absent on the ridge.
