Single properties or clusters that hold 15 or more people, with a commercial-size kitchen or a pavilion. State park group camps and lodge buyouts handle the largest parties.

Dolly Sods Wilderness covers about 17,000 acres on the Allegheny Front in Tucker, Grant and Randolph counties, at elevations between roughly 2,600 and 4,700 feet. The plateau holds heath barrens, sphagnum bogs and wind-flagged red spruce that look more like Canada than the mid-Atlantic. Access roads are gravel and rough, and Davis, Thomas and Petersburg are the closest towns with lodging.
