The Cranberry River drains the south side of the Cranberry Wilderness and flows northwest along the Pocahontas, Webster and Nicholas county lines to the Gauley River. Its middle section is closed to vehicles and reached by a gated forest road used by anglers on foot and bicycle. It is a heavily stocked trout stream with backcountry campsites and adjoining Forest Service campgrounds.
