Coopers Rock State Forest covers more than 12,000 acres east of Morgantown along Interstate 68 in Monongalia and Preston counties. Its main overlook stands about 1,200 feet above the Cheat River gorge and is one of the most visited viewpoints in West Virginia. The forest has more than 50 miles of trails, a campground and popular bouldering and sport climbing areas.
