The Blackwater Canyon Trail is a ten-mile rail trail on the old Western Maryland grade between Thomas and Hendricks in Tucker County, dropping about 1,300 feet through the Blackwater Canyon. It passes the Douglas Falls and the Kennedy coke ovens near the upper end. It is part of the Allegheny Highlands Trail network and a popular downhill mountain bike shuttle ride.

A 57 foot falls on the Blackwater River near Davis, tannin-stained amber by hemlock and spruce needles. A boardwalk of over 200 steps drops to the viewing platforms.
