Bluestone Lake is a reservoir of about 2,000 acres at normal pool on the New River above Hinton in Summers County, and the third largest body of water in West Virginia. It backs up the New and Bluestone rivers behind Bluestone Dam and is known for flathead catfish, musky and hybrid striper fishing. Bluestone State Park and the Bluestone Wildlife Management Area line the shore.

Bluestone Dam
A US Army Corps of Engineers flood control dam on the New River at Hinton, impounding Bluestone Lake. Tailwater releases below it hold walleye, muskie and smallmouth bass.

Sandstone Falls
The largest falls on the New River, spanning about 1,500 feet and dropping 10 to 25 feet across several channels. A boardwalk from River Road north of Hinton reaches the islands at the lip.

Hinton Railroad Museum
A museum in downtown Hinton covering the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway division point that built the town. The surrounding blocks form a listed historic district.
