Lost River State Park covers about 3,700 acres in southern Hardy County, a short drive west of Mathias. It has cabins built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, a stable, a swimming pool and a road to the Cranny Crow overlook at about 3,200 feet. Wardensville and Moorefield are the nearest towns and it is one of the closest West Virginia state parks to the Washington area.
