Oglebay Resort is a 2,000-acre municipal park and resort on the east side of Wheeling in Ohio County, given to the city by industrialist Earl Oglebay in 1926. It has the Wilson Lodge, cabins, three golf courses, the Good Zoo, a glass museum and gardens. The Winter Festival of Lights runs from November through early January and is the largest holiday light display in the region.

An 1849 suspension bridge over the Ohio River at Wheeling, the longest in the world when it opened at 1,010 feet. It is a National Historic Landmark and carried the National Road.
