Sutton is the seat of Braxton County, with about 900 residents, on the Elk River at exit 62 of I-79. Sutton Lake, a 1,440-acre Army Corps reservoir, is immediately upstream and has campgrounds and boat ramps. Braxton County calls itself the geographic center of the state, and Flatwoods is a few miles north on the interstate.

Summersville Lake Lighthouse
A 104 foot wooden lighthouse at Mount Nebo above Summersville Lake, built in 2012 and open for climbs to the lantern deck. It is the only lighthouse in West Virginia.

Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum
A hand-cut stone hospital in Weston built between 1858 and 1881 and operated as Weston State Hospital until 1994. The main building is a National Historic Landmark and runs history, paranormal and photography tours.
