It is the closest town to the Cranberry Wilderness and the Cranberry Glades Botanical Area, both well under an hour east. The Feast of the Ramson, an April ramp dinner, has run here since 1938.

    A 43 mile National Scenic Byway from Richwood to US 219 near Marlinton, including 22 miles of WV 150 through the Monongahela National Forest. Four overlooks sit between 3,000 and 4,500 feet and the WV 150 section is not plowed in winter.

    Three waterfalls of 25, 45 and 63 feet in a gorge off WV 39 west of Cranberry Glades. The lowest is the second highest waterfall in West Virginia and the boardwalk to it is steep.
