The 78-mile Greenbrier River Trail runs through the middle of town along the old Chesapeake and Ohio rail grade. Snowshoe Mountain is well under an hour north and the Highland Scenic Highway begins just east of town.

Cass Scenic Railroad
A state park railroad running restored Shay geared steam locomotives on former logging grade from Cass to Whittaker and Bald Knob. The company town of Cass, built in 1901, holds rental cottages.

Highland Scenic Highway
A 43 mile National Scenic Byway from Richwood to US 219 near Marlinton, including 22 miles of WV 150 through the Monongahela National Forest. Four overlooks sit between 3,000 and 4,500 feet and the WV 150 section is not plowed in winter.
