Tygart Lake is a reservoir of about 1,750 acres on the Tygart Valley River near Grafton in Taylor County, held by a 209-foot concrete dam completed in 1938. Steep wooded shorelines and clear water make it one of the better lakes in northern West Virginia for boating and smallmouth fishing. Tygart Lake State Park has the marina, lodge and campground.

Tygart Dam
A concrete gravity dam on the Tygart Valley River near Grafton, completed in 1938 as one of the first Army Corps flood control projects in the Ohio basin. Tygart Lake State Park is on the reservoir above it.
