Where to stay near Summersville Lake
Summersville Lake is a 2,700-acre reservoir in Nicholas County, a short drive south of Summersville, and the largest lake in West Virginia. It has the clearest water in the state and is the main destination for scuba diving, cliff jumping and sandstone rock climbing at Long Point. The lake is drawn down each September to feed the Gauley River whitewater releases.

Summersville Lake Lighthouse
A 104 foot wooden lighthouse at Mount Nebo above Summersville Lake, built in 2012 and open for climbs to the lantern deck. It is the only lighthouse in West Virginia.

Summersville Dam
A rockfill dam on the Gauley River completed in 1966, one of the largest of its type in the eastern United States. Its fall drawdown releases create Gauley Season whitewater.
